Today at noon, Umbrella became the owners of Foundation House,
the supportive recovery house for men we have been operating for almost 5 years.
The owner, Clive, pictured below with our ED Sharlene,
offered Umbrella the house below market value earlier last year,
with the goal of selling it to us by February 28, 2020.
In 2019 we ran two very successful fundraisers
and received generous donations from our community,
which allowed us to purchase this valuable community resource.
A huge thank you to Clive and the board of VIARS, who literally handed us the keys to Foundation House years ago believing in us, trusting us and allowing us to continue to provide this important program.
And thank you’s need to go to Umbrella’s board for their support and understanding the importance of this house and to our amazing staff who have been helping us reach this point.
And the biggest thank you of all goes to the residents, past and present,
you are why we wanted this house so much!
