Fundraiser by Nadeige Levesque

This summer I’ve been training to run the Royal Victoria Marathon. I’m dedicating my 42km to all the beautiful people who have lost their lives or who are currently struggling with mental health and the commonly co-occurring substance abuse, and addiction. This is a topic I find we all struggle to talk about, and one that hits close to home for so many of us from every walk of life. When I feel lost for words, or am struggling mentally, I run. I hope I can put this running to good use.

I’d like to continue to honour those people, shine light on this issue and raise funds for an organization who spend their days providing mental health and substance use supports to individuals and their loved ones. Umbrella Society provides recovery housing, outreach programs, support groups, counselling, harm reduction and education. The counselling is by donation, with no one being turned away for lack of funds.

If you’d like to make a donation in memory of a loved one or in support please do, if you’re not financially able at this time please share these resources or reach out to a friend in need. I more than anything just want to continue the conversation, and hopefully leave less people feeling alone in their struggles.

Thanks you Nadeige for raising awareness about mental health and substance use issues.
