"My recovery journey started at Cedars in Cobble Hill, BC in January of 2025. I knew that 2nd stage housing was going to be a crucial part of my recovery, so they recommended Foundation House/ Umbrella.
I got into Foundation House on May 15th and it's been a crucial part of my recovery. Madison was super helpful in getting me into the house initially. I'm very comfortable there and Erik is an amazing house manager. Derek and Josh are also very helpful in their roles. I also have Kelsey as an outreach worker, who has been helpful in so many areas like helping me get my life pass, helping with my schedule H funding and my PWD. Nola is also great as a counsellor, we've had several sessions together and she's been very helpful. I've also signed up for the "Comfortably UN-Numb" program coming up this fall. I also attend the NA meetings held at Umbrella from time to time.
I'm coming up on 7 months sober now. The biggest positive change since living in the Foundation House has been my ability to be more vulnerable, which I owe to the comfortability of my housemates and our in-house meetings. The conversations I have with my housemates are very helpful as well. We have a great group of guys in the house. I owe a lot to the house and Umbrella."
