Giving Tuesday is a day around the world that celebrates the power of generosity in our communities. It is held each year on the first Tuesday after Black Friday.

This year’s Giving Tuesday falls on December 2, 2025, a day when people everywhere can come together to support charities and programs that are making a difference in the the lives of others.

This Giving Tuesday, we are inviting you to join us in building a stronger community where addiction and mental health services are easier than ever to access as well as continue to reduce the stigma.

With your donation to The Umbrella Society every dollar helps fund our free programs such as our Outreach services as well as helping to maintain and secure our Recovery housing. Also, including our free counselling, peer support, daily drop-in service, registered and drop-in groups, art therapy, school education presentations, navigation and execution for those unsure of where to start with treatment or detox planning and more!

Every contribution, no matter the size, will create a lasting impact for folks struggling with addiction and their family and friends as well.

Testimonials from our Clients

“Umbrella had a huge impact on myself. I was struggling with alcoholism, was unhoused, jobless, broke, alone, and hopeless. I didn’t know how I was going to get sober or even believe I could. I had given up on life and didn’t see a way out. My addictions had me

isolated, sick, depressed, and my life was a mess. In 2018, after I was admitted to detox, an Umbrella Outreach worker came to speak with me about my recovery and the different options I had when it came to dealing with my addiction. Umbrella offered me support (at no cost) and I was offered a bed at Umbrella’s Recovery House called Foundation House. I moved into the house as soon as I completed Stabilization and it forever changed my life. It was the perfect place for me at that point in my life”

“My healing, recovery path started seriously June 10th, 2024.But was having trouble quitting alcohol. I bounced on and off, I got 67 days in and still went back to drinking. I knew I had to quit letting alcohol rule my life. With chronic pain from arthritis in my hips and knees it became a way to self medicate. My addictions counsellor recommended The Umbrella Society for help. I had never reached out for help ever. I brushed it off the first time. Once again, we spoke of them, and I promised to call within the week and I did. I must say the phone call was difficult because my inner child didn’t want to quit. Whoever answered was the sweetest, most understanding person who listened to everything I had to say. I got put on the waiting lists for both UN-numb and their women’s recovery groups which started at the end of April 2025. With the tools I have been provided by everyone involved within the Umbrella Society, has helped educate myself to start my road to recovery”

“Realistically, I was scared to take my recovery seriously and be held accountable. Making the choice to accept and realize the gift that was put in front of me and take the next step and overcome my fear was the best decision I’ve made in my recovery journey”
