The Venture Project!

We’re so grateful!  Recently, a team of five students at Royal Roads University selected Umbrella to be the beneficiary of a most wonderful project.

The Venture Project Students

As a requirement for a course entitled ‘Entrepreneurial Expertise’ students, (from left) Amber McLaren, Stephanie Moroney, Sam Beshai, Christina Brause, and Gillian Newhouse, were tasked with growing a wee bit of seed money into as much as possible, in just five weeks.  They decided to sell umbrellas to raise funds for Umbrella!

UmbrellaThe team quickly discovered an enthusiastic partner in Kim Rosenmayer, of iBrolly Canada who contributed a stunning design. Much more elegant than the usual folding model, these classic umbrellas sold for $30.00 each.  Part of the purchase price was a charitable donation with a $20.00 tax receipt available to the purchaser.  iBrolly Canada manufactured the umbrellas as final quantities became known, and delivery was completed in May 2009.

A special thanks to the students at Royal Roads for their enthusiasm and to everyone who supported the Umbrella Venture. We're so grateful!
