- If you are considering a larger gift, you may be interested in our endowment fund with the Victoria Foundation. Endowment funds provide support in perpetuity. You can also give a deferred gift, such as a bequest in a will, or an in-kind gift, such as real estate, securities or other tangible property. You can also designate Umbrella as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, which may have significant tax advantages for you. Your financial advisor can help you decide which type of donation best meets your needs.
Other ways to give
There are other ways to give. You can share things you no longer need with organizations that can help. Umbrella can direct your donation to where it will do the most immediate good.
- Give clothing, shoes, sleeping bags, or toiletries to a shelter
- Have a garage sale and give the proceeds to an organization that provides services to the homeless, substance users or those with mental health issues
- Give items such as tickets to sporting events to groups that can use them to raise funds.
- Give furniture, household appliances and tools to groups that help find homes for people.
- Give used office equipment and furnishings to community groups, shelters or other organizations, so that more money can go directly to programs.
